The Heart of the Entrepreneur
April 3, 2012Got to love us entrepreneurs.
We’re either one brick shy of a full load or innovative geniuses, depending on who you ask. Of course, the one thing you can’t accuse us of...is being ordinary. We’re anything but.
If we were, we wouldn’t take the risks we take or do the things we do. I mean, who else can pull this stuff off and create businesses out of nothing? Entrepreneurs are clearly a different breed.
Here are some other common threads I believe describe the heart of an entrepreneur. Let me know if you agree:
• Action-oriented. Meaning we find it impossible to sit around or be still. Being led by the nose by someone else is a non starter and fate worse than death. Leading people is our passion—and so is catching a vision and creating something out of thin air. It’s in our blood...We have to take action to live. We have to build to breathe.
• Right now attitude. Ask any entrepreneur and they’ll tell you—urgency is built into their gut. If you’re out to make it happen, then safe just doesn’t cut it. Neither does using deliberation as an excuse for inaction. We’re out to change the world and get it done by lunch...know what I mean?
• Never quit mentality. If success were Italian food, persistence would be the garlic. Molto importanti. You have to stretch yourself in every way possible when you’re an entrepreneur. Hold tight to what you believe. Stick to your goal...and never give up!
• Embrace the Uniqueness. Doing things the way everybody else does it is a sure fire way to fail. You can’t be normal and expect extraordinary results. Remember, you are an artist and your medium is ideas. Commit yourself to your vision and capture your business from the creative ether.
You’re not like everybody so why try to be. At the end of the day, how many people can actually do what you do? The answer is: not many.
If you can envision it, you can create it.
Be passionate. Be extraordinary.
Live with astounding purpose.
